HeatShield ("we", "our", or "us") is dedicated to protecting worker thermal safety and physiological data privacy.
We collect biometric telemetry (heart rate, skin body temperature), environmental heat index metrics, and account profile information (name, email) strictly to deliver real-time heat stroke prevention alerts.
Biometric and thermal telemetry is analyzed by the HEATHER AI Engine to calculate physiological strain index (PSI) and dispatch emergency siren alerts to supervisors.
If you sign in using Google OAuth, we only request your basic public profile (name and email address) to create your worker account.
The HeatShield app asks for your agreement, and records the time you gave it, before any vitals leave your phone or watch. You can withdraw at any time by contacting the research team. Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) you may ask to access, correct or delete your data.
To support the capstone study, full-resolution telemetry (heart rate, skin temperature, ambient temperature and humidity, and battery level) is kept in a research archive in addition to the short live buffer the dashboard uses. The archive is used only for the study, is kept until the study and defense are complete, and is then deleted or anonymised. The exact deletion date is announced to participants before data collection begins.
Workers may request account and biometric telemetry deletion at any time by contacting deleonharry26@gmail.com. Upon request, all stored telemetry records and account profiles will be permanently removed from our databases within 48 hours.
